Timothy's AND Frederick's Mom were played BRILLIANTLY by Arlene Belcastro.
Arlene Belcastro Bio
Although not fortunate to have begun her acting career at an early age, nonetheless Arlene has enjoyed a variety of roles, both on the stage as well as behind a movie camera. She especially loves character roles, so over the years has accumulated quite a number of wigs to enable her to effectively create her various characters. One of her more recent projects was “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” where she played one of the screaming women in the church. From Emily’s point of view the two women looked like ghouls so this was done creatively by computer and the complete article with pictures of the artist’s computer make-up can be found on the internet. Arlene was also fortunate in landing a Tum’s commercial when they wanted “real” people. She is so happy to be thought of in that category. Stage work included “Dark & vous, elderly cousin (Hepsibah); “Dearly Departed” (her husband drops dead in the opening scene); “Mornings at Seven” (the eldest, problem-solving sister); “Suddenly Last Summer” (the nun); “The Man Who Came to Dinner” (crazy Harriet); “Shadow Box” (Felicity who suffers from dementia) and Tony’n’Tina’s Wedding (Italian Nona who falls on the dance floor) to name a few. Of course her wigs got lots of use, especially greys. Arlene has also been called in to do stunt work on 4 feature films: “The Ex”; “Deep Rising”; “Wrongfully Accused” (where she also had a cameo as a nurse observing Leslie Nielson during one of his comedy scenes) and “Scary Movie 3”. In all of these stunts the co-ordinator wanted an elderly woman so various grey wigs were again used. Arlene also enjoys working on Independent movies as inevitably she again gets a chance to play a wide range of characters. When Arlene is not either on stage or in front of a camera she may be seen performing with the Burnaby International Folk Dancers while they entertain at community functions as her second passion is dancing. Folk dancing is also a wonderful way to get exercise and keep fit as who knows what tomorrow may bring?
